7 Tips for what to wear on an engagement session

Ok, I  am not a fashionista, but I have learned what looks good in photographs.

These are some of my tidbits:

1) Wear clothes that make you feel beautiful!

I know myself being a “curvy” girl, I LOVE to wear dresses and they are what I feel most comfortable in.

2) Hire a great photographer!

3) Don’t be afraid to wear bold colors.  You don’t need to be all matchy matchy, but it is good to wear complementary colors.

See the wheel for examples of what colors go together.

3) Be careful of patterns and plaids, if you absolutely LOVE a dress with bold patterns, then have your partner wear a solid shirt to complement your bold pattern.

4) Bring a couple different outfits and your photographer can always advise you on what works best!

5) Dress for the weather and layers, this can add different looks for pictures, for ex. Cardigan or sweater, sport coat over jeans etc.

8) Smile and enjoy every moment!

Samantha + Mike Intimate wedding at Serra Cross in Ventura

After meeting these two, I knew that this couple had something special, a spark, a chemistry that I absolutely loved capturing.  There were such sweet emotions that were so precious. Beautiful sweet tenderness and tears, laughs, giggles and smiles.  On June 20th, these two tied the knot overlooking their close friends and family at Serra Cross in Ventura CA.  We started out at The Marriott in Ventura and took the getting ready pictures and bridal portraits. Samantha’s bouquet is beautiful!  I love the simplicity of the roses.

Today was a Fairytale at Oak Canyon Ranch Part 1

The Oak Canyon Ranch is a whimsical, woodsy, unique venue that I was overjoyed to shoot my French fairytale inspiration shoot.  I absolutely love Oak Canyon Ranch , If you are looking for a gorgeous venue that is surrounded by Oak trees where you can even have a chandelier that is hanging from a tree, then this is the place for you! This is a photographers dream to shoot here and if I was getting married again, I would have my wedding here in a heartbeat.

Christmas in January – Colorado Family Portraits

This January  we celebrated the holidays with family in Colorado.  Each year, there is a new addition to the family.  I had the opportunity to photograph my nephew, Rockwell when he was a baby and now he has grown up so much!  And my nieces have also grown up and are now the age to play hide and seek and dress up  which are some of my favorite activities

It was so hard to choose my favorites from our time in Colorado.   There were so many great expressions that I just had to photograph while I was in Colorado with my family.

So many memories were created! I absolutely love my Family!

Hope you enjoy!

SACAGAWEA costumes that my mother had put together for Olive and Sophie were the highlight of the day!

These photographs are of Olive in her new Indian costume that my mother put together for my nieces to help tell them the story of Sacagawea Sacajawea, who was an interpreter and guide during the Lewis and Clark expedition from North Dakota to the Pacific Ocean. This was not only EDUCATIONAL, but also FUN!!

My niece Sophie playing us some music and singing a song about her experience as Sacagawea

My nephew Rockwell is amused by a science instrument that my brother had given him for Christmas.

We also enjoyed some some visitors from relatives that I hadn’t seen in years and their little ones!
